What the site uses, what stays private, and what you control.
The public directory
MadeByWho brings together creator profiles, project links, artwork and dated records from public sources. Those editorial profiles are public. You can browse without an account, and the sources behind a profile are linked on the page. An unclaimed profile does not mean that its creator has an account or has endorsed the directory.
Accounts and sign-in
Clerk manages authentication and sessions. If you choose Google sign-in, the requested information is your basic Google profile, such as your name, email address and profile image. We do not request access to your Gmail messages, Drive files or contacts for this sign-in. Creating an account does not claim a creator profile.
Suggestions and account information
When you send a suggestion, its creator name, public link and note are sent with your signed-in account identity to a private review queue in Supabase. Supabase also stores the account information needed for that service, including the verified email and your email preference. These submissions are reviewed before any profile is added; submitting a form does not create a public profile.
An unsent suggestion draft stays in the memory of the open page while you sign in. It is not saved to browser storage, and reloading or leaving the page discards it. The browser-local creator bookmarks described below are separate.
Email is a separate choice
We use Resend for account messages and weekly digests. Signing up does not subscribe you to the weekly digest. Digest emails use your account’s verified email and require an explicit opt-in. Use Email preferences to change that choice, or the unsubscribe link in a digest to stop future digest emails. Account and delivery records are used to operate these features.
Usage analytics
Google Analytics and PostHog receive a limited set of usage events, such as page views, project opens, play-button clicks, category choices, bookmark actions and sign-in actions. We do not send form text, free-text searches, account email addresses or Clerk account IDs to these analytics tools. Automatic interaction capture and session replay are disabled. Page URLs sent by the site exclude query strings and fragments, and analytics referrers are omitted.
The site respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals by disabling its analytics collection when either is enabled. Authentication and features you choose to use can still make the requests they need to work.
Bookmarks, fonts and other sites
Saved creator bookmarks are stored in this browser. They are not synchronized to your account and do not automatically move between devices or domains. You can remove a bookmark with its Save button or clear it through your browser’s site-data controls.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. An embedded project is loaded only after you choose its play button. Opening an original project or a source link takes you to another service, which has its own privacy practices. Hosting and external services receive the technical request information needed to serve their features, such as network address and browser details.
Corrections and privacy requests
To request a correction, profile removal or help with personal information used by MadeByWho, sign in and use Suggest a creator. Include the relevant public page link and begin your note with “Correction request,” “Removal request” or “Privacy request.” Use only the information needed to explain the request. It enters the existing private review queue for manual review; there is no automatic removal or verified claiming flow.
